Speed Readers Dolch Phrase Frenzy . . . I mean Fluency!
When I started doing 'Ball Words' (my Dolch word mastery system) four years ago, I ran into a very good problem to have. My kinders that were able to master all 220 Dolch words were NOT satisfied with 'now you're done.' They wanted more. They wanted more of a challenge. They weren't even close to being done. So I started Speed Readers. I'm so glad I did, because as of today, I have 10 kinders who have already mastered all 220 Dolch words, and I have to keep them challenged. My ... VIEW POST
Sight Word Questions Answered and a Parent Freebie!
One of the reasons I love attending SDE's National Conference each year is because I always come home with a ton of questions from teachers about things I never think to blog about. Things that are just second nature to me . . . that I might just take for granted because it's part of my routine. So I want to take the opportunity to speak specifically about one of those topics today. Sight Words! And all those unanswered questions including one about making a 'home-school' ... VIEW POST
Double Bundle Giveaway or “I’m Feeling Kinda Like Oprah”
Today, I'm feeling a little bit like Oprah. You know those shows she always had when she would give away her favorite things. It carries you through weeks and weeks of instruction, your students love it, you love it and your students reap oodles and oodles of great instruction because you have it. That’s how I feel about my ... VIEW POST
Getting Back Up To Speed . . and a big Giveaway!
Even though we started back up to school January 2nd, it's seems that it has been forever getting back up to speed. In a span of one week, I lost one day with kiddos due to my own sick kids, one day to Diebels testing and another day to a snow (rain) day. Regardless, my kinders jumped in feet first and started tackling new Cold Weather Math Stations and Centers. I was able to snap a few pictures of the fun (and work . . . shhhhh they think it's all play) happening in my little ... VIEW POST
Free Brag Tags For Ball Words
Several weeks ago, before all kinds of craziness broke out at the McGuire house, I had asked my Ball Word friends if they could have some supplemental resources to go with the Ball Word system, what would they be. I received so many great ideas, but one that I really wanted to make were Free Brag Tags for Ball Words. I love collecting new ideas for celebrating successes and this one just resonated with me. It's easy, it's cheap for teachers, and kinder kids will love them. So today, ... VIEW POST
