I feel like I have literally spent the last month parked in a chair on one soccer field or another. All three of my little ones are playing this fall and the only saving grace for having the older one on a pre-travel team is that I get to do a little shopping in between games...yippee!!! Last week when I was killing time before our next game I was able to pop into JoAnne's and find these amazingly cute little spider buttons. Aren't they darling! I'll be making a freebie for you with them so if you have the chance go pick some up. In the meantime, my friend Hadar, from Miss Kindergarten, spied my find and created a cute little activity that goes along with them as well. Go snatch it up at her blog Miss Kindergarten.
Did I mention that I have 2 boys for every girl this year. I love the energy and movement that comes in a classroom full of active boys (and girls) and to keep those little ones who haven't quite managed to master all their letters yet, I have them work with this ABC Parking Lot activity. It's a freebie actually, and you can pick it up by clicking on the picture if you don't already have it.
And for those sweet things ready for letter sounds, I used this version that includes beginning and ending sounds. This was THE favorite station this week and we'll see many more days of use with this and the extension activity I have for CVC words that goes with it.
In addition to cars, this kinder class is crazy about sensory table activities. So I broke out this syllable one from my Autumn Harvest Word Work Galore pack. I love giving them the chance to practice this in the sensory table before moving the cards to be used for a write the room activity. It extends the activity and gives me so many uses.
New math stations started this week and with it a new math I-spy. This one has my kinders searching for numbers (it's tiered 1-10, 1-15 and 1-20) and then representing them in a tens frame. They love anything with a magnifying glass.
And finally, as a bonus picture I have to answer the question, 'while most teachers get apples, guess what I get?' TA-DAH.... A Squash of course! One of my little sweeties brought me this in this week. I don't know if you're a squash lover or not but there's nothing like fresh baked acorn squash with butter and brown sugar. YUM!
So how was your week? Drop me a line and let me know what you're working on. And in the meantime, stop over and check out the other Five for Friday participants this week.
